Children and Young People at the Ascension

We have something to offer young people of all ages at the Ascension.  To find out more, do get in touch or come along to a Sunday morning service and meet our team.  For a calendar of our family and young people's events, click here.

We take safeguarding seriously and all our team is DBS checked in compliance with our safeguarding policy.

Diddy Disciples (0-5 years)

Diddy Disciples is based on seven principles: movement, repetition, spirituality, church, learning, our voices, our emotions.  Designed specially for very young children, it is a joyful session that takes place during Sunday morning worship (10:30am).  Parents are welcome to accompany their children to this session or to leave them in the care of our experienced children's workers.   We run Diddy Disciples most weeks, unless there is a special all-age service.

Young People's Church (5+ years)

YPC is a fun session involving making, singing, learning and worship.  It takes place during Sunday morning worship (10:30am) during school term time.   If there is Messy Church in the afternoon we may not be able to support YPC in the morning service but we do our best to ensure children and young people are involved in the service each week.

Youth Group (11+)

We have a new youth group at the Ascension for young people in Year 7 or above.  Meetings are fortnightly in the church hall and are run by our youth work team, all of whom are DBS checked (see our Safeguarding page for more details).

The Ark (0-4 years)

The Ark is a drop-in playgroup from 10am - 11:30am on a Wednesday morning during term time.  Parents/carers and children are welcome to come along and play, join in our songs and have refreshments, closing with a bible story and prayer.

Messy Church

Messy Church is worship for all the family.  Together we have fun making crafts, enjoying worship, music and prayer, hearing a story and finishing off with a party tea!  Messy Church runs on the third Sunday of the month - don't wear your Sunday best!

We are part of the Messy Church movement, based on the values of creativity, hospitality and celebration.  Messy Church is designed to be enjoyed by all ages.  For more information see the Messy Church website.
